The Quick Estimate

Roughly estimate the amount of work in any given project.
What is/Outcomes
Including the technical members of the team will allow them to weigh in with potential problems or alternate approaches that might make the feature easier to build.

1. Generate future ideas (specific or not)

Hand out your sticky notes to everybody on the team. Then do a silent, five-minute free-listing exercise where everybody generates as many feature ideas as possible for the product, one idea per sticky note. You want to get down every single feature idea that you’re considering building, and any new ones that people can think of. If you have a backlog, make sure to include all the items off the backlog.

2. Combine and explain

Each team member read each of their sticky notes aloud and put them on a whiteboard. Combine or eliminate duplicates. 3 minutes per person.

3. Make the 2x2 Metrics

4. Sort and Discuss

5. Get rid of Half of it
